01. The Challenge & Solution
Café ’t Ankertje is a well-known destination in Enkhuizen, loved for its waterfront terrace, house-brewed beers, and authentic atmosphere. However, the previous website didn’t fully capture that experience. While the café itself feels warm, lively, and inviting, the online presence lacked the same clarity, structure, and visual impact. There was also an opportunity to guide visitors more effectively toward key actions like exploring the menu, discovering beer tastings, and making reservations. They also wanted a way to support clients outside opening hours, handle questions instantly, and offer a more personal digital experience to their clients.
Our approach:
We redesigned the website to mirror the real-life experience of ’t Ankertje, visually, structurally, and strategically.
The new design focuses on:
- Strong visual storytelling (terrace, food, beer experience)
- Clear content hierarchy and effortless navigation
- Highlighting key offerings like lunch, dinner, and tastings
- Conversion-driven call-to-actions for reservations
The result is a website that feels like the place itself:
warm, inviting, and easy to step into.

02. Our Working Process
We approached this project from a user-first perspective, mapping out how visitors interact with a hospitality website.
Instead of overwhelming users with information, we simplified the journey:
- What does someone want to see first?
- What convinces them to visit?
- What makes them take action?
Our process included:
- A full UX & UI redesign with a focus on clarity and visual balance
- Structuring the homepage into clear, digestible sections (experience → offering → action)
- Elevating key elements like beer, terrace, and atmosphere
- Optimizing the experience for mobile-first browsing
- Integrating strong, well-positioned call-to-actions
Every section was designed to naturally guide the visitor forward from inspiration to reservation.
03. Finished End Result
The new website immediately communicates what makes ’t Ankertje special.
Visitors now experience:
- A strong first impression through visuals and typography
- A clear overview of lunch, dinner, terrace, and beer offerings
- A natural flow that leads toward making a reservation
The balance between aesthetics and usability ensures the site not only looks premium, but also performs as a business tool.
’t Ankertje now has a website that doesn’t just look pretty but actually generates them reservations and gives visitors a representational view of the restaurant and its offerings.
